We are searching for an expert to support planning, execution, and integration of mechanical structural andtesting in support of the SLS vehicle development\\. Working independently and/or in an integrated, collaborative team,your responsibilities would include:
+ Providing SLSStructures and Environments \\(STE\\) support in the mechanical structural designdiscipline for the SLS vehicle design
+ Supporting our MSFC customer s Structural& Mechanical Design Branch \\(EV32\\)\\. Specific responsibilities include:
+ Independentlyprepares \\(or directs others in the preparation of\\) criteria,computations/analyses, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports ina specific area of technical expertise\\.
+ Selectsand applies engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluatespecific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scopeand complexity\\.
+ Creates3D solid models and review of 2D drawings\\.
+ Reviewsand evaluates the quantity, quality, and overall adequacy of results and conclusionsdrawn from accomplishment of engineering tasks\\.
+ Operateswith general instructions; selected portions of work will be reviewed in detailto measure adequacy of approach, execution, and presentation\\.
Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET\\-accredited university is required\\. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph\\.D\\., with a minimum 14 years of experience, Masters with at least 18 years of experience, or BS with at least 20 years of experience\\.
Skills and experienceshould demonstrate:
+ Experience in launch vehiclestructural dynamics analysis and test\\.
+ Experience as a senior engineerleading and working with teams and products needed to design, develop, analyze,integrate, simulate, and validate mathematical models of launch vehiclehardware and systems\\.
+ Expertise in complex systemend\\-to\\-end development ranging from requirements development, environmentdefinition, structural design, hardware integration, and flight verificationthat lead to flight certification\\.
+ Experience with launch vehicleelements, vehicle integration and analysis and with MSFC system engineeringprocesses\\.
+ High proficiency in 3\\-D CADincluding, but not limited to large assembly management, 2\\-D drafting, andWindchill product lifecycle management\\.
+ Experience with product review andvalidation procedure such as ISO\\-9001\\.
Strongwritten and oral communication, interpersonal, and independent problem solving skillsare required\\.
**Essential Functions**
**Work Environment**
Office environment\\. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing \\(100%\\)\\. Requires ability to interact professionally with co\\-workers, management, and client \\(100%\\)\\. Requires travel in the domestic USA \\(<15>**Physical Requirements**
Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues \\(10%\\)\\. Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks \\(80%\\)\\. Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Jacobs facilities \\(10%\\)\\.
**Equipment and Machines**
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment \\(100%\\)\\.
Normal workday is from 7:30 a\\.m\\. through 4:30 p\\.m\\., Monday thru Friday\\. Minimal overtime may be required \\(10%\\) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job\\. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required\\.
**Other Essential Functions**
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential \\(100%\\)\\. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others\\.
