COLSA Corporation is seeking candidates for a Software Test Engineer I to join its Software Factory in Huntsville, Alabama. We are seeking a software test engineer who is excited about solving complex problems and is willing to take ownership, deliver value, and make a difference in our processes and outcomes. How we work + We work in small teams using our Factory Agile Software Team process and freely collaborate to create innovative solutions + We encourage improvement of our processes by piloting the improvements and evaluating the effects on quality and timeliness of the resulting products + We work directly with our clients as partners-we get to know their work flows and pain points before architecting a solution Some things you'll be doing + Working directly with stakeholders to identify user acceptance requirements + Openly collaborating with a team of software engineers as passionate about software as you are + Using cutting edge open source technologies + Leveraging source control, automated testing, and project tracking software to ensure we deliver a high quality product + Learning from your teammates so that every member of the team grows professionally + Attending all aspects of the Agile Scrum process from Daily standups to Scrum Reviews with the customer + Developing and executing complete and informative functional test procedures in order to effectively produce high quality software + Developing unit and automated functional tests to quickly and efficiently find software issues + Collaborating with developers, users, and the customers to help troubleshoot and pinpoint potential software issues. Required Experience Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or other related field or equivalent experience * Working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, programs and spreadsheet, and database programs * Working knowledge of current operating systems and programming languages * Good communications skills (written and verbal) * Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance Preferred Qualifications * Experience developing test scripts and documentation * Experience with backend technologies (C#, Node.js, Javascript, or Typescript) * Experience with database technologies (MYSQL, SQL, or NOSQL) * Experience with architectural design patterns (MVC, MVVM) * Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) * Experience with source repositories (GIT, TFS, or Perforce) * Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
