Overview: Boeing Research & Technology partners with Boeing business units to advance towards widespread application of modeling, simulation, and analytics across the lifecycle of our aerospace and defense products. The Boeing Company invites applications for a Modeling & Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) Engineer with experience in Space Systems and Missile Systems modeling. The successful candidate will work in Boeing Research & Technology organization in Huntsville, AL with the Complex System Analysis Services (CSAS) team. The engineer will work on various projects, including those that use Modeling & Simulation tools to design and synthesize system concepts to meet customer requirements as well as provide operational and mission analysis of existing systems. The engineer will also be required to develop models and simulations in a variety of languages and apply them across a broad spectrum of projects to support programs and proposals. Projects assigned may include enhancing functionality of existing M&S assets or applying existing tools on new analytical projects. The ideal candidate must be intrinsically motivated to complete projects, at times with limited description of the task and direction. The ability to establish a good working relationship with the project lead and customer is required. In most cases the candidate will be asked to assess and come up with innovative solutions using existing resources to meet their needs. The candidate will also be required to clearly communicate with the project lead, team members, managers and customers on the status of projects and self-direct in planning tasks to completion. Openness to operate outside of ones skillset to quickly learn new software and hardware tools is desired. This position requires the flexibility to work on multiple, fast paced projects simultaneously. The employee at times will be asked to review proposal activities and support customer shaping meetings that require excellent written and verbal communication and ability to demonstrate a level of competency that will help capture new work. Possible scope also includes initiating and maintaining relationships on collaborative projects within the academic and industry setting. General knowledge of programming tools (eg C/C++, C#, Java, Python), General knowledge of modeling and prototyping tools (eg Matlab/Simulink, Multi-Disciplinary Design Analysis & Optimization), Knowledge of software development and testing tools (eg editors, compilers, linkers, desktop simulation, configuration management tools, requirements management tools). Assets (Preferred): Three or more years in programming in Matlab, Python or R. Experience with War-gaming, Operations Research or Flight Simulation. Experience with numerical methods used in physics-based modeling, such as numerical quadrature, Runge-Kutta Integrators, 3DOF and 6DOF Flight Simulation or RF signal propagation. Typical Education / Experience: Level 3: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
